Björn Steinz began his photographic career at a local newspaper based close to Frankfurt.



Having volunteered in refugee camps during the war in the former Yugoslavia and traveled in Latin America, he decided to study photography and received an MA the Prague Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU).



Following this he spent two years as an Assistant Professor at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea teaching photography while working on a book about the country.



Björn has worked on numerous occasions in the Russian Federation, with a particular emphasis on stories based in Yakutia related to the extreme conditions during the winter months.
