Chris became interested in photography during his previous career as a professional climbing instructor. Following a trip to Palestine he decided to focus his work on humanitarian issues.

In 2008 his project on the impact of AIDS on children in South Africa was exhibited at the HIV and AIDS conference in Mexico City and it has subsequently toured to Johannesburg, Geneva and New York.

Chris is the artistic director of the Fotopub festival in Slovenia, and was the editor of the World Press Photo Foundation book Africa United on football in Africa.
