11 year old Ahmed holds a football and sits in view of the golden Dome of the Rock in the playground of Al-Omariya school in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City. Located on the Via Dolorosa, the school is housed inside old Ottoman buildings. These former military barracks were built over the site of the Antonia fortress where, according to oral tradition, Jesus was tried by Pontius Pilate. The school's courtyard is the First Station of the Cross for Christian pilgrims. Monumental doors, now sealed, once led to the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa mosque.
