14 year old Mohammed Salem Abu Eid (in framed photo) was arrested and beaten by Israeli soldiers with the butts of their guns for throwing stones. He is currently in prison. His father Salem Abu Eid holds his picture. Since the beginning of the second Intifada in September 2000, there have been at least 5,200 Palestinian children as young as 12 arrested by Israel. Most are held with adults in often inhumane conditions and many experience psycho-social effects that extend far beyond the period of detention. The most common reason for imprisonment is throwing stones.
