21 year old Erin with her two daughters at Liberty House homeless women's shelter. They were made homeless when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Louisiana in August 2005. Years later the city is still struggling to recover. The most evident sign of the slow progress is the level of homelessness which is estimated to be 12,000. Before Katrina it was estimated to be 6,000.
