Cappadocia, TURKEY

A camel in front of the rocks of Uchisar, which have been carved into houses. The geological features are formed when a layer of volcanic ash, known as 'tuff' is capped by more resistant rock such as basalt, which impedes the erosion of the softer tuff beneath it and creates their unique conical forms.
