A community member stands at the doorway as forensic anthropologists from the Center for Forensic Analysis and Applied Sciences (CAFCA) arrange, in coffins, the remains 77 war victims exhumed from mass graves in 2009 on the evening before the mass burial. The victims were killed during the Covadonga massacre carried out by the Guatemalan military on 29 March 1982, during the de facto government of General Efrain Rios Montt. The massacre took place against the background of a scorched earth campaign against numerous Mayan villages believed to support the guerrilla forces.
