A cow's head sits on the floor in a corner at the Abapor-ETSA recycling plant. The various waste food and packaging will be processed into dog and cattle food, organic fertilizer, cosmetics, organic cooking oil, proteins, biodiesel and biomass at the factory. Dead livestock is skinned, the hides being processed and stored for sale to the leather industry in Portugal and Italy. Cadavers of all animals are incinerated. The factory plant itself runs entirely on bio-diesel made from animal fat produced during the processing of dead animals.
