A de-miner searches agricultural land for live landmines while a woman cultivates the land as soon as it is cleared. The presence of live minefields around major population centres are a legacy of more than 30 years of civil war, leaving areas of land highly dangerous and putting pressure on the cleared land for settlement and agriculture. One role of Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) agencies such as MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is to facilitate contribute to the country's socio-economic reconstruction.
