A Falun Gong follower assumes a sitting position during a meditation session in Hong Kong's Victoria Park. Also known as Falun Dafa, the practice of Falun Gong involves a series of five meditaiton exercises to achieve a higher moral awareness. The movement has proved particularly controversial since it was suppressed by the Chinese government on account of its alleged illegal activities. Practitioners of Falun Gong claim that the Chinese government and police force has committed human rights abuses against the group in an attempt to marginalise the movement.
