A fisherman, from the village of Sfantu Gheorghe, hauls in a net filled with a catch of Danube Herring. The inhabitants of the Danube Delta live an isolated existance and make a living mainly by fishing and farming. The region's well-preserved delta eco-system was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.
