A girl and her dog in the town of La Oroya, which the environmental health organisation Blacksmith Institute listed as one of the World's Worst Polluted Places, because of pollution generated at the poly-metallic smelting plant currently owned by the Doe Run Company, seen in the background of this picture. The site was built as a copper smelting plant in 1922.
