Venice, ITALY

A gondola at the entrance of the Grand Canal. Otherwise known as Canalazzo, the Grand Canal is the main waterway that runs through the heart of the city. Each of the boats is hand-crafted from nine different types of wood. The metal 'ferro' attached to the front of the boat counteracts the weight of the gondolier. Its metal teeth symbolise the six districts (or 'Sestieri') of Venice.
