A group of young Rakhinese men, carrying state flags, walk past the Jama Mosque after leaving the U Ottama Park after laying wreath in front of the U Ottama statue on U Ottama memorial day. Sayadaw U Ottama, an ethnic Rakhinese monk, was involved in anti-colonial activism and is celebrated annually on 9 September, the date of his death in 1939.
