A lace curtain covers a porthole onboard the ship Valiente, maintain the ship's electrics. The vessel is registered under a Belizean flag of convenience, but was once part of the Soviet Union's huge shipping fleet. Built in the USSR in 1986 and named after a hero of the siege of Stanlingrad, Vasily Zaytsev, in 2013 the current owner abandoned the decrepit vessel in the harbour of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria owing the crew a large amount of unpaid wages. The crew have refused to leave the ship and continue to maintain it in the hope that they will one day receive the money they are owed.
