A Magellanic Penguin in the Peninsula Valdes National Park. The Magellanic Penguin was named after the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who spotted the birds in 1520. The species is listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature).
