Khimti, NEPAL

A newly installed cut off valve in the Khimti hydropower plant. It is designed to be able to stop the flow of 86,000 litres of water per second in about five seconds. The water has travelled 13km in underground pipes from its intake upstream before reaching the power house. Nepal currently uses only 1% of its hydropower capabilities and investment is planned to exploit this much needed energy both internally and to export with in the region.
