A poppy wreath, medals, and other military paraphernalia of Edward Vakabua, who was killed in Iraq on 6 July 2007. Thousands of young Fijian men have signed up to join the British army. They do so mainly for economic reasons, as job opportunities in Fiji are scarce. Many recruits who enlist for army positions in engineering or logistics end up on the front lines of Britain's continuing conflicts.
