A portrait of Sir Roger Casement (1864 - 1916), an Irish revolutionary and a renowned figure in the abolition movement. Casement, working as a British consular official, denounced and campaigned against human rights atrocities on the rubber plantations in both Putamayo (Peru) and the Belgian Congo. However, he was executed for high treason after allegedly attempting to lead an Irish rebellion against the British.
