A protest rally in Independence Square one day after the second round of Ukraine's presidential election. The demonstration was called by opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko and the Pora student movement, after allegations that Viktor Yanukovich had won the vote by fraudulent means. The peaceful 'Orange Revolution', which saw thousands of people take to the streets, led to the results being quashed. A rerun held on 26/12/2004 resulted in Yushchenko being elected president.
