A rebel soldier from the Seleka movement sits against a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) 'Gecko' vehicle that was captured after rebels conquered Bangui and overthrew President Francois Bozize. 13 SANDF soldiers died in the conflict. Seleka ousted the Central African Republic President in a coup d'etat in March 2013. They immediately began enlisting unemployed youth into their ranks. These youths were given a brief training, armed and sent out to patrol the city. However, chaos has ensued as coup leader Michel Djotodia and his new government struggle to control their soldiers. Looting is widespread and there are regular clashes between different Seleka groupings.
