Mount Gerizim, West Bank, Palestinian Territories

A Samaritan boy holds on to a sheep before it is slaughtered as tourists gather to watch the annual Passover Sacrifice. Approximately 700 Samaritans live in Israel, mostly in Mount Gerizim in the West Bank and in Holon near Tel Aviv. They are believed to be descendant of Jews who remained in Israel after the Assiryans conquered the land in the 8th Century BCE. The religion, similar to that of Judaism, is based on four principles of faith: One God, the God of Israel, one Prophet, Moses Ben Amram, the Torah and the holy place of Mount Gerizim.
