A sign at the Nejat Drug Treatment Centre warns of the danger of contracting AIDS. The ongoing spread of heroin addiction and the subsequent sharing of needles among addicts threatens to cause an AIDS epidemic. The Nejat centre is one of the few clinics in Afghanistan where addicted men and women can go for help. These two women are friends and have been addicted to opium for six years. After three months of treatment in the centre, they are now clean.
