A tablet of Nevirapine is displayed at the Star of the Sea Health Centre, which is funded by UNICEF. Nevirapine is an anti-HIV drug prescribed for pregnant women to stop the HIV virus being transmitted to their unborn babies. Since 2006, the centre has focused on PMTCT (Prenatal Mother To Child Transmission) viruses, specifically HIV. In addition to screening thousands of pregnant women and their newborns, the centre provides training for laboratory technicians, counsellors, medical supplies and equipment.
