Bia Tributaries North Forest Reserve, Ghana

A truck carries logs from one of the last areas of rainforest in western Ghana where logging companies have been granted permits to remove certain trees to be sold on the European market. Despite strict rules, the result is that the previously impenetrable jungle becomes accessible to local farmers. They travel into the forest via logging tracks to plant cocoa trees and other crops in the fertile soil in the shadow of the remaining forest giants.
