A video camera is set up on a tripod in a recording studio at Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service (SLBS). It actively promotes Sierra Leonean music with various shows dedicated to work by local groups, yet is often put under pressure to boycott certain bands which the government considers too critical. A new musical genre combining rap, Hip-Hop rhythms and protest lyrics has emerged in Sierra Leone following the brutal ten year long civil war. The music is widely regarded as conveying the 'voice of the people' and representing the conditions of the country's younger generation during its post conflict period.
