Baghdad, IRAQ

A woman and child walk past a private generator in Sadr City, a poor neighborhood in southern Baghdad. Cables stretch out from the generator, connecting local buildings to the electricity supply. It is estimated that municipal electricity supply only covers 50% of what is needed by the city's residents, causing frequent power cuts. Many people resort to buying electricity from neighbourhood generator operators.
