Hebron, West Bank, PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES

A woman passes graffiti of the Israeli flag on a wall which devides the Jewish settlers part and the Palestine city in the divided West Bank town of Hebron. The agreement which was signed on 15 January 1997, divided the city of Hebron into two parts and Israel retained full security control over the Israeli settlement enclaves in Hebron and Palestinians get responsibility for the rest of Hebron. Today about 800 Jews live in part of the old city of Hebron under continual IDF protection. The remaining 166'000 residents of the surrounding city are Palestinians.
