A worker at the M.A Ambabur Kiln chases a donkey with a stick. Modern India is built on the backs of donkeys. They transport building materials at construction sites and have long been used for carrying bricks at kilns. The brick-making season runs from November to June and as the months progress the condition of the animals and workers deteriorates under the growing pressure of work and heat.
