Freetown, SIERRA LEONE

Abu Sesay with his colleagues at a mechanic's workshop where he is learning motor mechanics as part of his reintegration organised by the charity Free Minor Africa. After many years living on the streets Abu now lives with a friend in a new hut in the wharf area of Freetown. In 2010, Abu was serving a two year sentence in Freetown's Pademba prison for stealing a purse with another boy. The prison was built for 220 people and regularly houses over 1,000 inmates. [The second part of this photographic project was made possible with funds which Fernando Moleres received from the Tim Hetherington Grant in 2012]
