Sipkovica, MACEDONIA

Albanian children run for cover as a British army helicopter, part of the NATO force, lands in Sipkovica, headquarters of the rebel National Liberation Army (NLA) in the mountains above Tetovo.
Macedonia was plunged into crisis in 2001 as rebels staged an uprising, demanding greater rights for the ethnic Albanian minority. A peace agreement brokered by the EU and NATO eventually saw the rebels lay down their arms in return for an acknowledgement of ethnic Albanian rights in a new national constitution.
