Muynak, UZBEKISTAN

An abandoned statue of Lenin at what was once the edge of the Aral Sea. In 1964 the rivers supplying the Aral were pumped dry to irrigate crops. After that autumn the tide never returned. Nowadays the water has receded over 100 kilometres from Muynak.
