As the sun sets over the Drakensberg mountains near Loskop, gravediggers take a meal break during the digging of Joyce Mbele's grave in the millet field by her house. Joyce died of Aids related illnesses in early 2008, leaving her eldest daughter Lihle, to look after the family, which includes her sick aunt and cousins, as well as her own two siblings. Child-headed households such as this are becoming more common in South Africa, as the Aids epidemic continues to ravage the country.
