Bits of broken marble and bitter orange that have been thrown at riot police lie in front of the Presidetinal Ceremonial Guard in front of the Greek Parliament.

Following the murder of a 15 year old boy, Alexandros Grigoropoulos, by a policeman on 6 December 2008 widespread riots, protests and unrest followed lasting for several weeks and spreading beyond the capital and even overseas.
