The Bihari (or stranded Pakistani) minority in Bangladesh consists of mainly Muslim immigrants to East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) who came mainly from Bihar in India and intended to stay with the Pakistani state but were left stranded when East Pakistan seceded to become Bangladesh in 1971.
