Burmese fishermen, mending their nets after a night out fishing. The Burmese who often work in lowly paid jobs are ofthen in Thailand as illegal immigrants. In trying to escape political and economic hardship they form a large part of the flexible and cheap workforce in South East Asia. When the tsunami hit Khao Lak in 26 Dec 2004, many Burmese died but they received little help because of their illegal status.
