C-17 planes from the US Air Force and other transport planes on the tarmac at Port-au-Prince airport five days after an earthquake hit the city. The airport has only one runway, which caused logistical problems as the international community launched a massive airlift of aid in the wake of the disaster.
A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on 12/01/2010. Early reports indicated that more than 100,000 may have been killed and three million affected.
