Children play in their makeshift shelter following Cyclone Nargis. The paddy fields behind them are still submerged in saline sea water from the tidal surge. Although, fortunately, the cyclone was after a major rice harvest, future harvests are likely to be badly affected. Over 150 people drowned in this village alone and the tidal surge reportedly reached up to 12 feet in places. Cyclone Nargis hit Burma on 02/05/2008.
