Bering Island, Commander Islands, Russia

Daria Zakharova, a meteorologist at the Nikolskoye weather station, at her desk.
According to the weather station's director, Svetlana Danilova, the climate on the island has become much milder over recent decades. Notably, sea ice no longer forms between Bering and Toporkov islands. Locals remember that back in 1940s they would walk across the ice from one island to the other.
