Elizabeth Chapel is buried by friends and relatives. She had just reached the expected life span
of women in Zimbabwe, 34. She died after miscarrying what would have been her fifth child in a hospital ill-equiped to deal with procedures that elsewhere would be easilly dealt with. Relatives contributed what little money they had to buy her a grave and made the coffin themselves. They pushed her body on a cart borrowed from a local market for five kilometres, gathered around the grave without a priest, and lowered the wooden box containing her body into the hole in the ground.
