Ethnic Aleutians from Nikolskoye having a conference call with members of their community living on Atka Island in Alaska. During the call the two groups, divided by the Russan ΓΆ€“ US border, sang old Aleutian songs and practiced their native language. Aleutians from Bering Island do not have direct access to the Aleutian Islands in the US, although they are neighbouring islands belonging to the same indigenous group. This sort of communication is very rare. This was the first phone call they have had in five years.
