Gwoza, Borno State, Nigeria

Following the arrival of two doctors and some medical supplies, a group of mothers with sick and malnourished children wait at the remnants of the town’s hospital to be seen by the doctors. The military retook the town from the Islamist group Boko Haram in 2015 but it was left largely destroyed and there is little food and almost no medical facilities. Humanitarian organisations can currently only reach the town by helicopter making its reconstruction almost impossible.
