Forest rangers showing where people remove bark from trees for traditional medicines. Ngong forest is a fenced and protected sanctuary. It is a nature reserve that has an abundance of animals and wildlife and acts as a physical division between the rich and poor areas of Nairobi. Illegal deforestation is a serious problem as the forest is full of rare, hardwood species that are sold to souvenir carvers in Nairobi who make wooden animals in all sizes for tourists in Kenya.
