Forest rangers stop and question two young men from the Kibera slums - seen in the background - who were caught leaving the Ngong forest with illegally cut wood. Ngong Forest is a fenced and protected sanctuary. It is a nature reserve that has an abundance of animals and wildlife and acts as a physical division between the rich and poor areas of Nairobi. Illegal deforestation is a serious problem as the forest is full of rare, hardwood species that are sold to souvenir carvers in Nairobi who make wooden animals in all sizes for tourists on holiday in Kenya.
