Aloi camp, UGANDA

Franco Ocin prepares to cook a poached fox. Three catches a week is enough to support his 8 member family living in this IDP (internally displaced people) camp.
For 18 years the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels have terrorised the Northern provinces of Uganda abducting 20,000 children and forcing 1.6 million people to flee their homes. According to Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) the mortality rate among children in some areas is five times the rate internationally agreed to constitute an 'emergency out of control'. The UN's under-secretary general for humanitarian affairs has called Northern Uganda the "largest neglected humanitarian emergency in the world".
