Georges Vervaeke, born in Belgium in 1932, is a pilgrim to The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, one of the most popular Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. "Three months ago, I had an operation on my back. My right leg was paralysed and I couldn't lift five kilos. I am not exessively religious but I said to my wife: 'If the operation succeeds, we go to Lourdes to thank God.' The operation was succesfull and I can move well again. I could have gone to a place of pilgrimage in Belgium but that would have been too easy."
