Hristu, a fisherman from Sfantu Gheorge, sleeps in the prow of his boat during the trip back home after a working day. The inhabitants of the Danube Delta live an isolated existance and make a living mainly by fishing and farming. The region's well-preserved delta eco-system was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.
