Hycinthe Nzabamwita.1995: Hycinthe Nzabamwita with Fils, her 17 month old child, who she became pregnant with when she was raped during the genocide. She says she found herself unable to accept her child. During the genocide she was thrown alive into a burial pit and left partially deaf and traumatised. She lived in abandoned houses and ate what people would give her. She was raped again and discovered she was HIV positive.2014: Hycinthe outside the charitable home where she now lives in safety and domesticity. Her son Fils eventually was able to go to a prestigious boarding school from where he sends her gifts, including the skirt that she changed into to have her photo taken.
