Jordi Alsina Bilbeny (Born: 14 October 1961), a Catalan writer, researcher, academic and activist, standing beside the 'Monument to the Independence' by Pep Sole i Jaume Rodri. Bilbeny has published several monographs on Catalan historic figures and is deeply involved in the region's independence movement. He has also taught Catalan for adults at the Islamic Cultural Council of Catalonia and the Barcelona Women's Prison (Wad-Ras) among others.
