Kadiatu lies with her grandchild on the bed for their afternoon nap in the Hastings resettlement village for amputees. Kadiatu had both legs amputated by rebels in the civil war. Thousands of innocent citizens were mutilated and had limbs brutally amputated by the by Revolutionary United Front (RUF) militia seeking support during the decade long conflict in Sierra Leone.
